Green River Lumber has built its reputation on the consistent quality and careful grading of its flooring products.

Maple
Green River
Hard Maple

is distinguished by its whiteness and superior uniformity of color. Our grading of maple exceeds most standards. We use only Northern Hard Maple lumber, some of the most sought after maple lumber on world markets. There simply is no substitute.

Green River is proud to offer FSC Certified Maple flooring, guaranteed to be sustainably harvested.

FIRST: This is an all white sapwood product making a naturally light colored and durable floor. No brown heartwood is allowed. There may be an occasional small mineral streak. Lengths range from 11" - 7', averaging approximately 3.00'.

SELECT: This maple product has a light overall appearance. It contains both white sapwood and light brown heartwood. No more than 45% of any piece may be light brown. Limited, small character marks are allowed. Lengths range from 11" - 7', and average approximately 2.50'.

NATURAL:
A lively character product, Natural maple shows the full appearance of the specie. Coloration ranges from white sapwood to brown heartwood including occasional streaks. Character marks reveal information about the life of a tree. Many of us who work with wood prefer the visually interesting appearance of Natural grades. Overall, this grade will appear more variegated than the Select grade. An occasional hole of less than 1⁄2” in diameter may need to be filled. Lengths range from 11" - 7', averaging approximately 2.25'.

Cherry
Green River
American Cherry

is famous for its luxurious, rich, red heartwood. It has been prized by generations for its inherent beauty, needing no embellishment. The lumber we use comes from Pennsylvania and Southern New York, the world's most renowned Cherry producing areas. 

Green River is proud to offer FSC Certified Cherry flooring, guaranteed to be sustainably harvested.

CLEAR: is sorted for rich, red heartwood, and contains minimal sapwood (less than 5%). We keep the color as uniform as possible by grading out the lighter and darker toned pieces. Lengths range from 11" - 7', averaging approximately 3.00'.

Common & Better: contains all of the natural coloration and characteristics of this specie, including sound knots, streaks and color variations.  Character marks reveal information about the life of a tree. Many of us who work with wood prefer the visually interesting appearance of Natural grades. An occasional hole of less than 1⁄2” in diameter may need to be filled. Lengths range from 11" - 7', averaging approximately 2.25'. Please note: this grade is sold on an accumulation basis and long lead times for delivery may occur. NOTE: Flooring that is less than 11” is in addition to the net square footage of the bundles. These pieces are included for filler only


Green River
Red Birch
is noted for its natural luster and satin-like appearance, and its durability that creates a truly distinctive floor. Red Birch, features a reddish-brown coloration and often contains figured grain patterns. We are careful to purchase our lumber sorted for the red heartwood to assure a strong consistency in its coloration.

CLEAR: While there will be some natural color variations, the darker and lighter toned pieces are graded out to maintain as uniform a color as possible. Minimal amounts of sapwood (less than 5%) are allowed, providing a uniform appearance. Lengths range from 11" - 7', averaging approximately 3.00'.

Green River Boston Birch: contains natural color variations between lighter toned sapwood and rich, reddish-brown heartwood. Including sound knots, streaks and color variations. An occasional hole of less than 1⁄2" in diameter may need to be filled. Lengths range from 11" - 7', averaging approximately 2.25'. NOTE: Flooring that is less than 11” is in addition to the net square footage of the bundles. These pieces are included for filler only

Hickory
Green River
Hickory

is known for its appealing appearance. Strong, bold grain patterns show through colors ranging from bright white in the sapwood to a rich, deep red/brown in the heartwood.

SELECT & BETTER: is a very high grade product that includes the range of colors inherent to the species. Some pieces will be 100% sapwood in varying shades of white; some pieces will be 100% heartwood in varying shades of brown; and some pieces will show white and brown in the same board. An occasional mineral streak may be present. These striking contrasting colors and strong grain patterns combine to make a very attractive floor. Lengths range from 11" - 7', averaging approximately 3.00'.

NATURAL: includes the full range of colors inherent in the species, Some pieces will be 100% sapwood in varying shades of white; some pieces will be 100% heartwood in varying shades of brown; and some pieces will show white and brown in the same board. In addition, this grade will show an array of sound character marks that may include tight knots, mineral streaks, and sapwood discoloration. Character marks reveal information about the life of a tree. Many of us who work with wood prefer the visually interesting appearance of Natural grades. An occasional hole of less than 1⁄2” in diameter may need to be filled. Lengths range from 11" - 7', averaging approximately 2.5'. Birch
Green River
Yellow Birch
answers the demand from our customers for a Northern Birch product with the Green River name on it. This richly colored flooring line is truly a distinctive product only found at Green River. Green River Birch is noted for its distinctive coloration, natural luster, satin-like appearance, and its durability.

Green River Berkshire Birch: is a Select and Better grade that contains the full blend of coloration found in Northern Birch, from creamy white sapwood to warm yellows to rich red heartwood. This combination creates a truly distinctive floor whose appearance is often enhanced by figured grain patterns and other natural characteristics. Tight, small (less than 1⁄2”) pin knots, burls and streaks enhance the appearance of Green River Berkshire Birch.  Lengths range from 11" - 7', averaging approximately 3.00'.

Green River Sheffield Birch: is a lively character product that shows the full appearance of this specie.  Coloration ranges from rich, dark red heartwood to light red tones to warm yellows and creamy white sapwood. Green River Sheffield Birch will include all of the natural characteristics of this specie, including sound knots, streaks and color variations.  An occasional hole of less than 1⁄2” in diameter may need to be filled. Lengths range from 11" - 7', averaging approximately 2.25'. Please note: this grade is sold on an accumulation basis and long lead times for delivery may occur.
